We've created a horizontal gel system that uniquely answers the need for speed and simplicity. Get years of use with one of our bestselling electrophoresis units. Made of rugged thick acrylic with tightly sealed joints the Wedge™ is built to withstand most gel-running conditions without warping or cracking. Our multitude of sizes gives you plenty of choices. Our no-frill vertical units are basic and economical. They can be used for sequencing or oligomer separations.

These solidly constructed units are ideal for restriction mapping, analytical and preparative DNA separations, Northern and Southern Blots.

This unit is designed to save time and space by pouring the gel directly in the box. When using our UV Transparent tray or glass plate, first lay one of these onto the gel bed. Just insert the heavy-duty white acrylic wedges to create a tight seal with the gel bed and pour in melted agar either directly on the UV Transparent gel bed, the glass plate or the removable notched UVT tray. To run, gently remove wedges by pulling up, store color-coded wedges behind electrodes, add buffer and connect to a power supply. Typical run time is 20 - 25min. at 200 volts for an 810 Wedge™.

•Flexible, space-saving design allows you to cast gels inside the unit 3 ways without tape: (1) pour agarose directly on the UV transparent gel bed or (2) on the removable notched 6 mm thick UVT tray or (3) on a glass plate set inside the unit.

•UV transparent acrylic construction lets you view and photograph your gel under UV light without even removing it from the box for quick checks.

• Removable 6 mm thick UVT tray lifts out easily for viewing and photographing your gel.

•Automatically align a straight set of wells by inserting the bridge into the notches of the UVT tray.

•Switch to different size combs that suit your needs with our easily adjustable comb bridge that holds the comb securely in place. Each unit comes with 4 PVC combs (2 each, 1.5 and .75 mm). (Custom combs also available)

• 13 x 15 (cm) and 20 x 20 (cm) units come with built in level and leveling legs.

•Pure platinum electrodes embedded in the acrylic base for longevity and safety.

• Grooves on the inside of lid keep it from sliding off to maintain safety.

•The scoop's wide beveled edge helps break the gel's seal to the underlying acrylic or glass plate and provides the leverage to pick up your horizontal gel without tearing or breakage.

How to Order Additional Wedge™Combs

•Please write your order (Cat. No.) according to this format: material-wedge™ size- number of wells-thickness.

For example, PVC-810W-15-1.5 means that you are ordering one Vinyl comb for an 8x10(cm) Wedge™ with 15wells, 1.5 mm thick.

We recommend Vinyl for the material of the combs, but teflon is avaliable.

* Comb attached with 1.5mm PVC bridge fits into the 3mm ID notches on the tray and the comb height leaves a 2mm thickness for the bottom of each well. This will allow loading from a 12 channel pipettor.

By casting with 4 of these combs in our tray you can load up to 104 samples per gel.
